Chandigarh, May 21 (IANS) Haryana’s Hisar town recorded the highest temperature of the season at 47.8 degrees Celsius as heat wave conditions continued in Haryana and Punjab on Saturday.
Most places in both states recorded maximum temperatures of over 42 degrees.
The maximum in Hisar was seven degrees above normal.
Narnaul town in Haryana recorded a maximum of 45 degrees. Ambala was relatively better at 39.1 degrees.
Chandigarh, which was lashed by a dust storm and light rain on Friday evening, recorded a high of 40.5 degrees.
The Sikh holy city of Amritsar and industrial city Ludhiana in Punjab recorded 44.6 and 42.4 degrees respectively. Patiala saw a high of 41.5 degrees.
Met officials said the heat wave will continue and weather largely remain dry over the next few days.
