Shimla, Jan 2 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Police on Saturday intensified patrolling and beefed up security at entry points along the state’s border with Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir after the attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) base near Pathankot.
“We have intensified security in the state, especially at the entry points,” Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar told reporters here.
He said vigil has been increased at important installations and additional forces deployed in sensitive areas.
Himachal’s Chamba and Kangra districts share a long border with Punjab’s Pathankot.
In a major security breach, terrorists entered the IAF base on Saturday and engaged the security forces in a fierce gunfight. At least four terrorists were killed by commandos following the attack, police said.
