Madrid, May 25 (IANS) Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has said that he sees the record European football champions “lifting the eleventh” title when they play UEFA Champions League final against cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid in Milan on Saturday.
The Croatian was confident of his team’s chances to achieve the first and only title that it could still take this season, reports Efe.
“We know it will be a very difficult match, as always against them, but we have a lot of confidence and it is a great opportunity for us. We have to take to the field with pride and character. I am looking forward to the eleventh, although the match is fifty percent between the two teams,” he said on Tuesday.
The Croatian international, who was present in the final in Lisbon where the Whites won against Atletico in 2014, said: “I have great memories of that final. It was a game we were about to lose. In the last corner I had to put a good ball in the middle of the excitement and anxiety of all. Sergio was placed well and got a goal.
“After that we won the game and I get excited just thinking about it. Now we return to face Atletico and hopefully get the same result again,” he declared.
