Priyanka Chopra is taking the world in her stride and is making her mark, now one movie at a time, unlike in Bollywood where she had a handful of projects at one given time.
The Bollywood actress, who is currently in the US shooting for her hit television show ‘Quantico’, spoke about her opinions on feminism and girl power in an interview.
In a detailed interview with a magazine, the star opened up about what it meant to be a woman, staying close to her roots and her plans for wanting a ‘legacy over a record’. Apart from her many powerful statements, she also said that she wants to be the next James Bond, and not the next ‘Bond Girl’.
Priyanka explains, “Look. It’s a story about a British guy who happens to be a white dude. There’s nothing wrong with that, whoever came up with it.”
“And not Jane,” she adds. “She should be James Bond, and she should be able to sell it. Why not?”
While she is out conquering prime time television spots, Priyanka is also ‘breaking barriers’, as we all know that she is the first Indian to bag a leading role in an international show. When questioned about the same she said, “I don’t like the phrase ‘woman of colour’. I feel like that puts women in a box,” she adds. “I’m a woman, whether I’m white, black, brown, green, blue, or pink—whatever. I think we need to start looking beyond that. It would be a big win for women, period.” – CINEWS
