Actor Prateik Babbar made his Bollywood debut by playing Genelia D’Souza’s brother in the 2008 hit film ‘Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na’.
He opened up about his drug addiction and the struggle that he had to go through to get rid of that addiction.
Prateik told about his journey to being clean, “I learnt the hard way, and I learnt the wrong way. I almost lost myself. In 2015, I almost died of an overdose of cocaine. That is what turned things around for me. And then I realized I had to get out there and go for what I wanted. A second chance at life was my motivation.”
He further said, “It was also about making my grandparents proud. There was a gap that started building up between my grandparents and me and then as I started getting older I started getting very angry with the whole situation. I did not want to listen to anybody. There was anger and hate. So it started, I found my escape in drugs and got lost. I was stuck for many years. I am so glad that it’s all over and I have to just move forward with a smile on my face.”
The actor also said that his friends and family’s support played a crucial part in helping him overcome this addiction.
He also said that he opened up about his problems to Sanjay Dutt who also went through such a phase, motivated and supported him to quit the horrible habit and gave him the confidence to share his story.
Now, Prateik is all set to begin with a new chapter in his life.
The actor recently got engaged to Sanya Sagar, and he will also be seen as the villain in ‘Baaghi 2’’ which also stars Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani.–CINEWS
