In West Bengal, train hits elephant, derails

Siliguri (West Bengal), Dec. 14 (ANI): A DEMU passenger train plying between Siliguri and Alipurduar derailed after hitting an elephant from Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary on Monday.

The incident, which took place between Gulma and Sevoke stations, has stopped the movement of trains on the route which has single track.

A relief train from New Jalpaiguri station has been rushed to the spot to provided relief to the stranded passengers.

No human injuries have been reported so far.

However, the condition of the elephant is yet to be ascertained.(ANI)
