Panorama India in association with the Consulate General of India, Toronto is organizing the India Day Festival & Grand Parade on Sunday 19 August, 12pm to 10pm at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto.
This free community event has something for all ages. The stated purpose is to bring together the local Indian community through the celebration of unity in diversity.
Consul General of India in Toronto, Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia will preside over the India Day event and will be joined by several notable political dignitaries from all levels of the government.
The event kicks off with the National Anthem at 1pm followed by the Grand Parade, marshalled by Bollywood actor Jimmy Sheirgill. Panorama India Chair Anu Srivastava is excited to announce that this year’s parade will display twenty floats representing the various States of India put together by the diverse number of cultural groups in the GTA.
The all-day program includes performances by hundreds of local dancers and Panorama Idol singers. The headlining acts this year include the “King of Bhangra” Malkit Singh, Indo-Canadian Singer Parichay, Indian Actor Pukhraj Bhalla and much more!
When it comes to food, there is plenty on the table, over 20 vendors will be around serving delicious fare at their stalls, each bringing with them the mouth-watering local cuisines from across India. Our International Marketplace and Meena Bazaar will host a variety of unique clothes, food and jewelry booths. Other featured activities include a Lamborghini display and Kids Zone.
As is always the case, thousands upon thousands of people from the GTA and beyond are expected to attend the event.
