New Delhi, Jan. 14 (ANI): Commenting on the extradition of fugitive Khalistani terrorist Paramjeet Singh alias Pamma from Portugal, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said India is seeking his extradition because the crimes he is accused of occurred in this country.

“Paramjeet Singh is accused of a number of criminal cases in India, including the murder of the president of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, and for this reason we are seeking his extradition from the Portugal Government,” said MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

“Paramjeet Singh is a known terrorist and has an Interpol red corner notice against him. He was detained by the authorities in Portugal on December 18 based on the red corner alert. We want to try him in India because the crimes he is accused of occurred in India,” he added.

He was detained on Friday night from a hotel in Portugal, where he was staying with his family. (ANI)
