India trail New Zealand 1-2 as Bopanna, Myneni loses Davis Cup doubles

Amritsar, July 18 (ANI): With tension prevailing at the border, the traditional exchange of sweets between the troops of India and Pakistan along the Wagah border in Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr has been called off.

“I can’t tell any reason why this happened but this is true that there was no exchange of sweets,” BSF DIG M.F. Farooqui told ANI here.

He said that the Indian side spoke about performing the gesture but there was no positive response from the other end.

“There was no mutual understanding on the issue and there was no positive response from their side,” said Farooqui.

“We exchange sweets on every occasion but this time the reason is unknown as to why it did not happen,” he added. (ANI)
