Washington D.C, Sept. 22(ANI): US Secretary of State John Kerry said here on Tuesday that the level of Indo-US cooperation is impressive and expanding in a way that it is not only benefitting both the countries but the world.
“Both of our governments (India and the US) are firmly committed to reaching a truly meaningful, truly comprehensive and truly ambitious climate agreement in Paris later this year, which is absolutely critical and reflects the responsibility of the world leaders to show the way on problems that profoundly affect not just countries but all of the citizens of the planet,” Kerry said.
Addressing a joint press conference, along with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj, Indian Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman and US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Kerry said that India and the US had concluded a very significant memorandum of understanding (MoUs) on energy security, climate change and clean energy.
Hailing India’s commitment to reach 175 gigawatt of renewal energy by 2022 as the world’s most ambitious target in the area of renewals, Kerry said, “American companies and research institutions are committed to help our partners to achieve that goal.”
“We are launching a climate fellowship programme to facilitate the exchange of key research information, said Kerry. (ANI)
