New Delhi, July 14 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday said that India welcomes the historic nuclear deal signed for Tehran to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the easing of economic sanctions.
“We welcome the successful conclusion on the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue. India has always maintained that the issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue by respecting Iran’s right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy while upholding the international community’s strong interest in the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme,” said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
“With regard to the second aspect, the international atomic agency, the IAA has an important role which has been underlined by the agreement between Iran and the agency on the road map for the clarification of cost and present outstanding issues. This too is a welcome development,” he added.
A deal on Iran’s nuclear programme has finally been reached, marking an end to 17 days of intense negotiations and decade-long standoff that threatened to stoke a new crisis in the Middle East.
The deal involves Iran accepting curbs on its nuclear programme in return for sanctions relief. (ANI)
