Changzhou (China), Sep 6 (IANS) India continued their goal-scoring spree as they routed Singapore 12-0 in their second Pool A match of the seventh Women’s Junior Asia Cup hockey tournament here on Sunday.
One day after humiliating North Korea 13-0, the Indian girls again put up a dominating display, scoring at regular intervals from the start against Singapore.
Anupa Barla, Preeti Dubey and M. Lily Chanu scored braces each, while six others joined on the scoresheet.
India got off the blocks early and Jaspreet Kaur fired a penalty corner wide. But it was striker Punam Barla, who opened the account in the seventh minute and three minutes later, fellow forward Anupa doubled India’s lead after receving a cross from captain Rani Rampal.
Midfielder Preeti (15th minute) and drag-flicker Jaspreet Kaur (25th minute) extended the lead as India went into the half-time with a 4-0 scoreline.
Singapore resisted relentless Indian pressure in the second half but it remained for only 14 minutes as midfielder Lily added the fifth goal.
