Indo-Russian relations go beyond politics, trade: PM Modi in Moscow

Moscow, Dec. 24 (ANI): Beginning with ‘Namaste!’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was proud of the warmth that Russians had for India while he was addressing the Indian community here on Thursday.

“Russian people in such large numbers express their love for India – is a matter of pride for every Indian. The way in which Russian artists performed Indian cultural dance forms and arts is praiseworthy, I salute them,” he said.

Prime Minster Modi also lauded the chanting of Vedic Mantras by Russian singer Sati Kazanova.

“I am told the singer who recited the Mantras is a very famous pop singer in Russia. A pop singer who can perform those mantras, without a paper in her hand, shows her level of devotion. Muslim by religion, Russian by nationality, pop singer by profession and reciting Hindu Mantras,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi also greeted everyone on Eid-e-Milad and Christmas.

He also invoked former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, saying the Bharat Ratna was also born on December 25.

Prime Minister Modi said that the ties between India and Russia are very deep.

“Political relations, trade relations is one thing. Our ties go beyond that,” he said. (ANI)
