Adelaide, Jan. 24 (ANI): Australian swashbuckling all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the opening T20 international of the three-match series against India due to a lingering hamstring injury.

“He has still got a little slight hamstring niggle so … he will spend a few days in Melbourne at home and join the squad when we get there in a couple of days,” acting coach Michael Di Venuto was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.

Meanwhile, Di Venuto will replace head coach Darren Lehmann for the T20 series after the latter has been hospitalised with deep vein thrombosis.

After clinching the five-match ODI series 4-1, Australia will take on India in the first T20 in Adelaide on Tuesday. (ANI)
