New Delhi, Jan. 19 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Tuesday refuted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s allegation that they were part of the alleged conspiracy behind the ink-attack on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying they are committed to provide security to every citizen of the national capital.
“Delhi Police is committed to providing security to every citizen of Delhi. We are also committed to provide protection to those who have been given security. The question of entering into any conspiracy to cause any harm does not arise. We always think about security of a person. Even that day appropriate security was given,” Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi told reporters here.
Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had earlier claimed that the BJP scripted the attack on Kejriwal with the help of Delhi Police, which work under the Centre.
With reports emerging that Kejriwal’s PA had asked the police personnel to step down from the dais a short while before ink was thrown at him, the AAP had squarely blamed the police for the incident.
The incident took place at an event on Sunday when Kejriwal was expressing his gratitude to the people of Delhi for making the odd-even formula a success.
The woman Bhavna Arora, who belongs to the Aam Aadmi Sena, rushed close to the dais and threw ink at Kejriwal. She was immediately detained by the police. (ANI)
