IPL first qualifier: RCB wins toss, opts to field vs Gujarat

Bengaluru, May 24 (IANS) Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field against Gujarat Lions (GL) in the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M. Chinnaswami Stadium here on Tuesday.

The Suresh Raina-led Gujarat Lions entered the face-off between the top two IPL teams with nine wins and five losses from 14 matches. It stands on the top of the points table with 18 points while RCB won eight matches and lost six out of 14 with 16 points, to be in the second place in the league stage.

Both the teams went into the match with an unchanged playing XI.


Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli (Captain), Chris Gayle, Abraham De Villiers, Lokesh Rahul (wk), Shane Watson, Sachin Baby, Stuart Binny, Chris Jordan, Iqbal Abdullah, S. Arvind and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Gujarat Lions: Aaron Finch, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina (Captain), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Dwayne Smith, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Eklavya Dwivedi, Praveen Kumar, Dhawal Kulkarni and Shadab Jakati.
