Javed Akhtar supports Sonu Nigam on social media

After almost a year Bollywood’s renowned lyricist, Javed Akhtar has come out in support of Sonu Nigam.

He says that the use of loudspeakers should be stopped by the mosques or any place of worship.

Last year, singer Sonu Nigam’s social post regarding the use of loudspeakers by mosques stirred up a huge controversy striking a national debate which resulted in the singer shaving his head to prove a point.

Talking about the controversial topic Akhtar took to Twitter, “This is to put on record that I totally agree with all those including Sonu Nigam who want that Loudspeakers should not be used by the mosques and for that matter by any place of worship in residential areas.”

Javed Akhtar tweeted this post on the same day when the Mumbai Police had initiated to increase the security of the singer due to the many death threats he received from terrorist groups.

Sonu Nigam had tweeted that his tweets were against the use of loudspeakers in morning sermons and not aimed at any particular religion.

He wrote, “I hope I never need to return here to clarify, but I never say never! At this point, my pious life, needs to de-clutter. I don’t know what will be made out of these Threads of mine, and what new Controversy I’ll get in too, but this should be the last due to Twitter.”–CINEWS
