London, Feb.10 (ANI): Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene is set to rejoin the England cricket team as a batting consultant for the opening 10 days of next month’s World Twenty20 in India, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Jayawardene, who earned an outstanding record as a batsman across all the formats in his glorious 18-year international career, had passed on to the England cricketers his experience of playing spin during the Test and limited-overs series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates last year.
Meanwhile, England named a 15-man squad for the T20 format’s pinnacle event on Wednesday that will be led by Eoin Morgan.
England will kickstart their World T20 campaign on 16 March against West Indies with South Africa, Sri Lanka and a yet to be decided qualifier forming the remainder of their group, the Guardian reported.
The England squad for World T20 in India is as follows:
Eoin Morgan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Liam Dawson, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, James Vince, David Willey. (ANI)
