Srinagar, Mar. 25 (ANI): Following Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision declaring Mehbooba Mufti as the Chief Ministerial candidate, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs in Jammu and Kashmir will meet today to take a call on the government formation in the state and end the prolonged impasse.
BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav and senior State BJP leader and Union Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh are expected to attend the meeting.
Governor NN Vohra will also hold separate meetings in Jammu today with the Presidents of PDP and State BJP to seek their formal viewpoint on the government formation.
Speaking at the PDP meeting earlier, Mehbooba thanked the party workers for extending their support to her and for backing her during testing times.
“I would like to thank all of you. Today you have once again elected me as the leader of legislative party. I thank you for your support. Mehbooba Mufti has no power, you all are the power of Mehbooba Mufti…All workers, people of the state stood behind me in these testing times,” she said.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor’s rule on January 8 after Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death on January 7. (ANI)
