John Kovac won the hotly contested Mississauga Ward 4 by-election. He will be sworn in next Wednesday.

His first order of business will be delving into speeding on local streets. Kovac said, of the many issues facing the ward, safety is the one he feels he needs to address “right off the bat.”
The byelection is estimated to cost the municipality just over $400,000.
