As part of an exciting program of entertainment from noon to 10 pm, the Juno award-winning band will hit the Main Stage at 8:30 pm. The Toronto-based five-piece, known for their sleek yet gritty brand of alt-bluesy garage rock, have toured alongside Billy Talent, Matt Mays, Arkells, Sam Roberts, Besnard Lakes, Weezer, Matthew Good Band and Tegan and Sara. They have spent the past year working hard on their sophomore album, which is to be released this summer.
Shane Harte will also be performing at 7:30 pm. Shane, a Brampton native, is an actor and performer who appeared in the Hallmark Channel original series Good Witch, and starred in the popular Family Channel series The Next Step. His debut album is slated for release later this year.
“Canada Day celebrations attract visitors from across the province to kick off the summer. With a great lineup of local and international artists and activities for the entire family, this year’s celebration promises to be better than ever,” said Mayor Linda Jeffrey. “Celebrate our nation’s vibrant culture and diversity and help make this Canada Day a memorable one.”
Festival goers of all ages can enjoy family fun amusement rides, a splash pad and petting zoo, mini-golf and paddle boat rides in the Kids Zone. Market stalls will offer clothing, crafts, jewellery, souvenirs, sporting goods and tasty treats.
The Official Opening Ceremony will begin on the Community Stage at 2 pm with celebration cupcakes to follow. The Mayor will bring greetings and open the Main Stage at 6 pm.
The evening will close at 10 pm with a spectacular fireworks display commemorating Canada’s 149th anniversary. Chinguacousy Park is located at 9050 Bramalea Road. On-site parking is very limited. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the free shuttle service offered by Brampton Transit. Shuttle locations will include:
