Jung rejects former Haryana CM’s parole plea

New Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS) Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Wednesday rejected the parole plea of former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, an official statement here said.

Chautala had on October 5 requested parole for medical treatment which Jung rejected, saying: “There should be a gap of minimum six months from the date of termination of last parole. He had last availed one month parole from April 4 to May 5 which was further extended up to May 28. He had surrendered on June 3.”

Chautala is currently behind bars at Tihar Jail here after being convicted in a case relating to the recruitment of teachers in Haryana.

Earlier this month, the Aam Aadmi Party led-Delhi government had accused Jung of ‘pressuring’ Home Minister Satyendar Jain to allow Chautala out on parole.

In response, Jain had argued against the move citing prison rules and the gravity of the charges against Chautala.
