Actress Kangana Ranaut has gone to the US to prepare to play a character in a film titled Simran, directed by Hansal Mehta.
Hansal Mehta, director, writer, actor and producer started his career in television with his show Khana Khazana and made movies like Jayate (1999) and Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar (2000) and is best known for Shahid for which he won the 2013 National Film Award for Best Direction. He also directed City Lights (2014) and Aligarh (2016).
In Simran Kangana Ranaut will play a Gujarati NRI named Praful Patel. “She (Kangana) is doing her workshop session with Mental and team for ‘Simran’. She is in Atlanta right now to get the nuances correct,” sources said.
The Queen actress left for the US on August 24 and will back in Mumbai on September 1.
Simran is the story of a ambitious woman who ends up in a world of crime. The shooting will begin at the end of September.
Kangana is one of the few actresses in Bollywood whose films became successful not depending on the male lead alone as Bollywood films conventionally use the heroines to play the second fiddle.
Shah Rukh and Kangana may be acting in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film but the project is at a premature stage, according to her. – CINEWS
