Multi-talented Karan Johar who is passionate about both films and television says “he is married to the two media”. “Television is my spouse and it will always be one of my spouses like films. I am married to the two – film and television,” he adds. What matters in life for him is success or failure of both fields, says the popular film maker and talk show host and judge of reality TV shows.
Karan is a judge on reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and India’s Got Talent. He is also known for hosting a celebrity chat show named after him, Koffee with Karan.
The 44-year-old director gives equal importance to both films and television.
Karan Johar often informally referred to as KJo, is a film director, producer, screenwriter, costume designer, actor and television personality who is primarily known for his work in Hindi films. He is the son of Hiroo Johar and the acclaimed producer Yash Johar.
Johar made his directorial debut with the blockbuster romance Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which earned him the Filmfare Awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay. His next two films were the ensemble dramas Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), which were both very successful abroad.
His counter-terrorism drama My Name Is Khan (2010) earned him his second Filmfare Award for Best Director. These, along with the several successful films he has produced under the Dharma Productions banner, have established him as one of the leading director-producers in Hindi cinema.
Presently Karan is busy judging a celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa along with Jacqueline Fernandez and Ganesh Hegde. – CINEWS
