Gurgaon, Dec.15 (ANI): The Embassy of Kazakhstan recently organised a round table on the theme of “Movement for the cessation of nuclear testing worldwide” at the “TERI” university which conducts research in the field of climate change and improving the environment.
Speakers at the event read out reports on nuclear non-proliferation, cessation of nuclear tests.
Kazakhstan’s contribution to the fight against the holding of nuclear tests throughout the world and its repeated calls for the signing of a petition banning nuclear tests of the “ATOM” project was highlighted.
The speakers attending the roundtable included Serikzhan Akshalov, Counselor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India, Tore Naerland, President “Bike For Peace” organisation, Frank Tomlinson, Vice President “Bike For Peace” organisation, Maria Bilyk, member “Bike For Peace” organisation and Dr.Rajiv Seth, Vice Chancellor of TERI University.
After the speeches, the event was followed by a discussion between the students and the teaching staff of the TERI University, as well as with media representatives and experts.
During the discussion, issues and problems that currently hinder a total ban of all types of nuclear tests worldwide and achievement of nuclear world free were highlighted.
The event demonstrated the broad support of both the public and experts of India to the international anti-nuclear initiatives of Kazakhstan and its President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
President Nazarbayev had earlier in his speech at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York highlighted these initiatives. (ANI)
