Kejriwal asks PM, Delhi LG to discuss women’s safety, security

New Delhi, Oct.17 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sit with Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to discuss all steps that should be taken for women’s safety and security in Delhi.

“Violence against women is increasing in Delhi, especially minors have been raped. The Delhi Government will not stay quite now even if we have to knock at the doors of the court. We have to ensure the safety and security of women in Delhi,” said Kejriwal.

Delhi Police is under the Centre. In fact, I have asked the LG many times to give information about the Delhi Police. I asked him who are the beat constables and their jurisdiction, but he is not ready to give any information,” he said.

He revealed that there are 16000 vacancies in the Delhi Police and the Centre is saying that they don’t have funds for the Delhi Police.

“If they don’t have funds to run Delhi Police, then why have they kept the force under the jurisdiction of the Centre. We have funds and will run the Delhi Police. Give us Delhi Police, and we will provide safety to Delhi,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.

Kejriwal was addressing a press conference in the wake of the gang rape of two minors in different parts of the city on Friday. (ANI)
