Kolkata, June 6 (IANS) The body of an elderly woman was found in a drain in her home here on Monday, police said.
The body of Sunanda Ganguly, who was around 60 years old, was found lying in the drain in her residential compound on Bokulbagan Road in Bhowanipore area of south Kolkata.
“There were no injury marks on the body. The post mortem report will ascertain how she died.
“But the way the body was found lying in the drain, it doesn’t seem a case of natural death. There is something unnatural. We have to look into the matter closely,” said the police officer.
Neighbours said Ganguly used to live alone in the house. She was estranged from her husband and was under pressure from a promoter to sell off the house. Two years back, she was allegedly abducted from her residence.
“All possibilities will be looked into. Earlier a case report was filed at the Bhowanipore police station. We will study it. Whether the husband or a promoter or some local person is involved, that will form part of the probe,” said the officer.
