Kovind arrives on maiden visit to Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (IANS) President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday arrived on his maiden visit to Chandigarh after assuming office. He was accompanied by his wife Savita Kovind.

Kovind was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour at the airport and welcomed by Punjab Governor V.P. Singh Badnore, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and other senior functionaries.

The President will attend the golden jubilee celebrations of the Mehr Chand Mahajan (MCM) DAV College for Women in Sector 36, which was founded in the memory of Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan in 1968.

It was inaugurated by then Vice-President of India V.V. Giri.
