KVIC has become a center of cultural unity for India, says Kalraj Mishra

New Delhi, Sept 19 (ANI): Union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra has inaugurated the “Gujarat Khadi Utsav”, exhibition under an employment generation programme at the Khadi Bhawan here.

Appreciating the efforts of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Mishra said such programmes should also be organised in various states to encourage local art and culture.

He said the KVIC has become a center of cultural unity of the country that will bring in more sustainability and viability to the khadi institutions and micro enterprises working across the country.

A tremendous increase in the sale of khadi has been noted after Prime Minister’s appeal in his show “Man- ki- Baat”. He also mentioned that KVIC is planning to launch franchise scheme to promote marketing of khadi products.

Speaking on the occasion, Giriraj Singh, Minister of State for MSME, said khadi and PMEGP will be milestones for creating employment among the youth.

Products manufactured in Gujarat such as ready-made khadi patch mirror work of Kutch-Bhuj, wood craft, footwear, Kutch embroidery, organic products, herbal products, food products and handicraft items of Gujarat were on display with a 20 percent discount on all khadi fabric and readymade items available till September 30, 2015.
