West Medinipur (West Bengal), Jan.15 (ANI): Residents of West Bengal’s Mechua village were left in a state of fear and shock when a leopard sauntered in from the adjacent forest, attacked and injured three people.

“A leopard entered our village. It pounced on me when I was looking at the animal like everyone else who was standing there,” said one of the injured villagers, Ambuj Mahato.

Police and forest officials could not capture the animal despite several hours of search.

The destruction and disturbance of wild habitat is one of the main reasons for conflict between man and animal in India. (ANI)
