New Delhi, June 29 (ANI): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday ordered a magisterial inquiry into the escape of two undertrials from Tihar Jail.
A release from the Raj Niwas stated that District Magistrate (South West) Ankur Garg will conduct the inquiry, with a focus on the factors and circumstances leading to the incident; a comprehensive review of the security set-up of Delhi prisons; fixing responsibility for the lapses leading to the incident; and remedial measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
Jung has further allowed Garg to co-opt officers from the Delhi Prisons, Delhi Police and PWD to assist him in the inquiry.
Two prisoners scaled a wall and dug a tunnel under another in the dead of night to escape from jail.
One of the prisoners, Faizan, has been caught but the other, Javed, managed to run away. (ANI)
