`Livid` Dhoni shuts down journalist with epic response

Bengaluru, Mar 24 (ANI): Although skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained calm under intense pressure and ‘managed chaos’ in India’s nerve-wracking one-run win over Bangladesh in their penultimate league game of the World Twenty20 , he was left fuming over a hostile question asked by a reporter during the post-match press conference in Bengaluru.

The journalist asked why India was only good enough to win by one run, pointing towards the team’s poor run-rate. However, a visibly irate Dhoni hit back by accusing the reporter of being disappointed India won the match.

“Listen to me. Hearing you, your tone and your question, it’s clear that you aren’t happy that India has won. And when talking about a cricket match, there’s no script. It’s not about the script. You have to analyse that after losing the toss, what was the reason that we couldn’t make many runs on that wicket. If you aren’t analysing these things sitting outside, then you shouldn’t ask this question,” said Dhoni.

Bangladesh were on course to pull off their first ever T20 win over India, needing only two runs off the last three bowls.

However, in a miraculous turnaround, India kept their semifinals hopes alive after dismissing three Bangladeshi batsmen in the last three deliveries off all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s over.

Bangladesh saw themselves crash out of the T20 format’s pinnacle event after falling agonizingly short of one run following Dhoni’s incredible work with one glove to run out Mustafizur Rahman in the last ball of the game.

India will next play against Australia in their fourth group game in Mohali on Sunday in a bid to secure their spot in the semifinals. (ANI)
