Peel regional police are warning Mississauga residents to avoid being victimized by a crime after a man was caught on camera looking into an unlocked vehicle.

At least three incidents occurred early Sunday, July 8 just after 3 a.m. on Snowflake Lane, in the area of Tenth Line West and Battleford Road.

Police say there were some valuables taken during the incidents, which prompted police to warn homeowners to avoid vehicle break-ins.

“Don’t leave any valuables inside your vehicle and please remember to lock your doors,” police tweeted.

Summer is usually when there is a spike in certain kinds of robberies and it is the great weather that often gives thieves the opportunity to prowl around neighborhoods looking for an opening into a house or car quite literally. People tend to be a little careless in summer and leave windows and doors open during the day and sometimes forget to shut them at night.

Summer is also a time when many people are away on vacation and so neighborhoods have many homes that are empty. Home and car owners should always ensure they’ve locked up. -CINEWS
