Lodha panel report to have greater impact on BCCI: Justice (Retd.) Mudgal

New Delhi, Jan.4 (ANI): Justice (Retd.) Mukul Mudgal on Monday said the much-awaited report of Justice R.M. Lodha-led panel will have a greater impact on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“I think the report will have a far reaching impact. How much is expected, how much it will be acceptable I don’t know. But one of the thing I hope they will address is there is no players association. There’s only board in the world where there is no players association. I hope Lodha committee addresses that,” he told the media here.

The Supreme Court-mandated committee headed by Justice (Retd.) Lodha is set to propose extensive measures to revamp the functioning of the BCCI.

The three-member committee consisting of Justice (Retd.) Lodha, Justice (Retd.) Ashok Bhan and Justice (Retd.) RV Raveendran will submit its final report to the Supreme Court on Monday.

Reflecting his views on reports that the Lodha panel might recommend that the politicians should be kept apart from the Board, Justice (Retd.) Mudgal said, “You cannot rule out any class of people. Yes, sportsman should have representation. Ian Chappell in a recent event said that the statement that all players make good administrator is rubbish. We should have intermixed of both.”

Earlier, the Lodha committee had suspended two IPL franchises Chennai Super King and Rajasthan Royals (RR) for two years from the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to their involvement in illegal betting and spot-fixing. (ANI)
