Last Friday the Mississauga Arts Council announced headlining acts for the MACArts Festival to be held on September 19 at Celebration Square. Glen Chipkar and the Swing Shift Big Band and Sampradaya Dance Creations are among the headliners along with award-wining chef and author Sung Kim and author Trevor Cole.
The festival is expected to be a spectacular display of Mississauga’s emerging and established, multicultural talent. This free event aims to expose the public to arts in all its forms.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie and local MPP Dipika Damerla commended MAC on its effort to take the arts to the people and on being awarded a $15,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (an agency of the Government of Ontario) in support of the festival.
“We are extremely grateful for the financial support we received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Ken Jones, President of the Mississauga Arts Council. “Their support will go a long way in ensuring we can create a festival that features artists of all disciplines and is by and for the people of Mississauga.”
Artists who are interested in performing or being featured can visit http://www.mississaugaartscouncil.com/mac-arts-festival/ for more information about how to showcase their work.
