Madras HC orders halt of transfer of NIC women employees

New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): The Madras High Court Bench has directed the National Insurance Company (NIC) to adhere to a circular issued by the Union Ministry of Finance on September 23.

The notice issued by the ministry states that public sector insurance companies such as the National Insurance Company should accommodate woman employees in branches situated close to stations where their husbands or parents are residing.

Justice D. Hariparanthaman passed the order on a petition filed by V. Ponnusamy, the general secretary of All India Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe General Insurance Employees Welfare Association, in which it was alleged that the NIC is yet to frame a scheme with respect to both married as well as unmarried women employees even after a year since the circular was issued.
