Plans to create a major transit hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport is moving ahead.
Last year the GTAA and Metrolinx was looking at potential transit connections to Toronto Pearson, including from the Kitchener GO line, Finch LRT and Eglinton Crosstown.
Currently a consultant is working on the design for a regional transit centre and passenger processing facility at the airport.
This development is expected to be a boon to residents of Peel as well as those residing in the Golden Horseshoe.
Once completed, residents traveling between suburbs and cities will no longer need to go into Union Station to make those transfers but can instead do so at this soon-to-happen transit hub.
Meanwhile local bus routes and services are being added to make transit to the airport more convenient, one example is the MiWay express route along the Mississauga Transitway was added in October.
Brampton Transit currently connects with Terminal 1 at Pearson Airport. Plans are afoot to extend the 505 Züm Bovaird service from Malton GO Station to the Pearson Airport.
If all goes according to plan, 2020 is when this ambitious idea comes to fruition. -CINEWS
