Bollywood has united to help Karan Johar in getting a release for his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which has run into troubles after the Cine Owners Association requested its members to suspend the screening of the film fearing violence.
Producers Mukesh Bhatt, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Anupama Chopra, Vijay Singh of Fox and a few officials of Dharma Productions met top police officials seeking protection to ensure a fair release in all theatres in view of MNS’ threat to stall the release.
After the meeting with police officials, Mukesh said, “What we are asking is our legitimate right to conduct business which is the fundamental right of an Indian. The movie is a universal family entertainer. There is no point for a fellow Indian to fight a fellow Indian. Why is an Indian fighting an Indian and making a Pakistani feel victorious? We should be together. You have a different way of expressing your sorrows of what happened in Uri and I am also very upset. But by being upset I don’t have to kill my fellow Indian for no fault of his.”
The producer emphasised on the need to have a peaceful Diwali and not destroy it by harming Indians and an Indian film.
“What is important is Diwali is a festival for the entire family and it’s a romantic family entertainer that is coming and keeping the spirit of the festive season in mind, why should we spoil Diwali of our own people. Let them go and enjoy Diwali by seeing a good movie which can facilitate happiness.”
Thanking the Mumbai police for offering cooperation to producers, Mukesh said,”They have assured us without mincing words that they will give us complete support. I am very confident once the police signal comes, the single screen owner will release the film in their theatres.”
To the MNS that has been threatening to stall the release of ADHM, Mukesh said,”I have appealed with folded hands to my brothers in MNS. I know they are upset and so am I but let’s do it peacefully. Let us not spoil Diwali of the people of our country. We are harming a fellow Indian. Pakistani ka kya gaya isme? Kuch nahi gaya. Woh toh mazze le raha hai. Hass raha hai. So let Pakistanis not feel victorious. We brothers should come together and it’s the festival of us Hindus. Why to destroy our festivals? This is my appeal to all my MNS brothers. Let’s be together and make Diwali good for all Indians.” – CINEWS
