Man charged for drugs and weapon possession during traffic stop

Peel Regional Police have charged a Toronto man for possession of drugs and a handgun, during a traffic stop in Mississauga.

According to the police, the arrest was made following an investigation of a vehicle in the Derry Road East and Rexwood Road on Friday, June 8, at 8:45 p.m.

The occupant in the vehicle was allegedly in possession of a 9-mm calibre handgun. Police also discovered marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin, a total value more than $200,000, in the vehicle.

Gurmilan Matharoo, 27, from Toronto has been charged with numerous firearm and drug-related offences. Matharoo was held for a bail hearing at the A. Grenville & William Davis Ontario Courthouse in Brampton on Saturday, June 9.
