He was first sent to a local hospital and then transported to a Toronto trauma unit where he has been reported to be in stable condition. Police said the vehicle that hit him fled the scene and they were searching for a dark coloured BMW missing a driver’s side mirror.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Major Collision Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
It is essential that a driver waits at the scene of an accident even if he is not at fault, especially if a pedestrian has been injured. In many instances, the driver who flees the scene of an accident could be responsible for the death of the injured party because if he or she could be there and call 911 promptly, especially if the accident occurred in a deserted area, the person could quite possibly survive.
