Man hires contract killer to eliminate friend-turned-foe, nabbed

New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) A 32-year-old contractor along with an accomplice was arrested by the police for allegedly firing at his former business partner in Dwarka’s Rawata village, the police said Wednesday.

“The accused, Jitender, and the victim, Nabodh Kumar (21), worked together for many years as masonry contractors. They broke the partnership a year ago after the accused suspected the Nabodh Kumar of developing intimate relationship with his wife,” said Anto Alphose, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka).

However it was Kumar’s wish to marry Jitender’s sister-in-law that annoyed the accused, he added.

Jitender was arrested on Monday just before he was about to flee to Mumbai. One of Jitender’s accomplices, Santosh, was arrested on June 15, while his other associate, Rajbir, is absconding.

According to the police, Jitender was suffering losses ever since he broke partnership with the victim, which had upset him and he planned to get rid of Kumar. He hired Rajbir and Santosh for Rs 50,000 to eliminate Kumar, Alphose added.

On June 10, Kumar was fired upon by Rajbir while Santosh stabbed him. However, Kumar managed to flee.
