Man wanted in Vaughan sexual assault case

The Sexual Assault Section of the e York Regional Police Special Victims Unit have released a video of a suspect wanted in a sexual assault that occurred in the City of Vaughan.

On Thursday, May 26, 2016, at approximately 1 p.m., an 18-year-old female exited a transit bus in the area of Keele Street and Rutherford Road. She walked to her residence which is located nearby. As she was unlocking her front door, a man ran towards her from the sidewalk, pinned her against the front door and sexually assaulted her. The victim managed to fight off the suspect and ran for help. The suspect fled the area on foot.

Residential video surveillance captured the suspect and investigators are releasing it and are seeking public assistance to identify him.

Suspect description:

  • Male, black
  • 18 to 25 years
  • 6’, 200 lbs.
  • Short black hair
  • Wearing a grey T-shirt, black shorts and glasses

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
