After her fight with cancer Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala who is known for playing the lead roles in many commercial and off-beat films is back in Bollywood with ‘Dear Maya’.
The Nepali-born actress, known for her stellar performance in films like 1942 A Love Story, Bombay, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Agni Sakshi, returned to Bollywood last year and since then has been signing projects, even down South.
She does not like to call her return to films her ‘second innings’ or ‘comeback’, as she says ‘I was always here’.
She was recently seen shooting for the film‘Dear Maya at the zoo in Delhi.
Manisha, who turned 46 earlier this month, believes in ageing gracefully. “You have to evolve with time. I feel one should age gracefully, tastefully and with acceptance. I feel one should evolve with the time,” said the actress, who walked the ramp for a fashion show on Friday.
Expressing her willingness to continue in the film industry she says “We had it (path-breaking roles) in the times of Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi and in between we lost it. I got a few opportunities and I would like that to be continued. I want young actresses to do meatier roles and not just only focus on glamour, but doing substantial, good, performance-oriented roles,” she said.
She says the fashion in Bollywood has seen a remarkable improvement . “We really didn’t care so much about fashion then, but nowadays everyone is conscious of fashion to look glamorous,” she added. – CINEWS
