‘Mann ki Baat’ reflects Govt.’s fear of losing Bihar polls, says Congress

New Delhi, Sept. 16 (ANI): The Congress Party on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ reflects the insecurity and fear of the ruling BJP, which is desperate to emerge victorious in the Bihar Assembly polls.

“I think these are very serious issues of ethics and law. The bottom-line is it reflects the insecurity and fear of the government, which wants to act by hook or by crook to somehow win, what is otherwise a losing election,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told a press conference here.

“Modi ji is using it (Mann ki Baat) at his will. Even if he is propounding the issues of the Central Government to influence the elections in Bihar through an exclusively Central Government owned media then also it is a direct violation of Model Code of Conduct. The Election Commission has taken serious note of it,” he added.

The Congress Party earlier approached the Election Commission seeking a ban on the broadcast of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ which is scheduled to be aired on Sunday.

According to reports, the Congress is citing the Model of Conduct, which is presently in place for the upcoming Bihar election, as the reason for opposing the ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme. (ANI)
