Many Taliban insurgents in favour of talks: US General

Johannesburg, Oct.9 (ANI): A top US commander in Afghanistan said that more than half of Taliban insurgents are in the favour of talks with Afghanistan government, but the negotiation might take few months to resume.

According to News24, U.S. General John F Campbell said there is an estimate that 60 to 70 percent of reconciliation by the Taliban.

But the talks might resume after few months as Taliban currently are a little bit confused and in disorder regarding its leader in charge, he added.

But Haqqani and the al-Qaeda network in Afghanistan are not in favour of the peace talks between Taliban and Afghan Government.

The reconciliation talks between the Afghan Government and the Taliban were suspended after the disclosure of the militant group’s chief Mullah Omar’s death on July 31.

The first meeting between Afghan Government and the Taliban was held in Murree on July 7. (ANI)
