New Delhi, Sept. 23 (ANI): Indian movies are certainly making a mark at the Oscars, as Marathi film ‘Court’ has been selected as India’s official entry for the 2016 Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
‘Court’ helmed by debutant Chaitanye Tamhane also grabbed this year’s National Award for Best Feature Film.
The court drama movie, which was released in English, Marathi, Hindi, and Gujarati, has won 18 international awards.
Veteran Indian actor filmmaker Amol Palekar was heading the jury for choosing the entry this year.
The film examines the Indian legal system through the trial of an aging folk singer in a lower court in Mumbai.
Indian movies namely ‘Paheli’, last year’s ‘The Good Road’, Aamir Khan’s 2001 sports drama ‘Lagaan’ are few lucky movies that have made it to Oscars. (ANI)
