Paris, April 19 (IANS) Olympique de Marseille have sacked coach Jose Miguel Gonzalez, better known as Michel, from his post because of his “behaviour, especially over the past three weeks”, the French football club said on Tuesday.
The coach has been summoned to a relevant meeting to discuss his resignation, according to a statement on its website, reports Efe.
“Until the end of the season, deputy coach Franck Passi, will be in charge of the team and be assisted by Basile Boli, named as sports coordinator,” the note added.
Several media outlets had announced that the Spanish tactician will leave Marseille on Tuesday, ahead of their Coupe de France semi-final with Sochaux on Wednesday.
Marseille, the only French club to win the Champions League in 1993, is winless in 10 league games and struggling at the 15th place in Ligue 1.
