If ever you are feeling down, depressed and willing to settle, you might want to watch Suji K. Reddy’s TedTalk on YouTube, http://youtu.be/7Yv6cGvLsn4. It will make you stop feeling sorry for yourself.
Sujit is described as an inspirational, and sometimes, ‘aggravational’ speaker because he wants the members of his audience to take something from his message that will allow them to “Keep Pushin” towards a brighter tomorrow for themselves and those around them. He’s an HR professional, who currently operates Human Capital Solutions which is his own HR firm. He is also a mentor and coach to people who want to become entrepreneurs through various programs he is aligned with. Sujit has not allowed Spina Bifida (Spina bifida is a neural tube birth defect, NTD, which occurs within the first four weeks of pregnancy. The spinal column fails to develop properly resulting in varying degrees of permanent damage to the spinal cord and nervous system) which has left to use a wheelchair to limit him in any way.
Can-India caught up with this remarkable man.
Tell us a little about yourself?
I grew up in Mississauga and was born with Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus
How were social attitudes toward you?
For the most part, people treat me with respect in North America. It is when I travel abroad that the attitudes of people are less cordial.
In your TedTalk you stress that you never felt different despite your condition? Could you elaborate?
I had and have the advantage of friends and family who see past the wheelchair and focus on what I am able to do and bring to the table.
You are a big believer of the ‘you can do it’ bandwagon. Can you tell us what makes you so positive about life and why people should not be grumbling and enjoying what they have?
My philosophy is, I have 2 choices as we all do!
1) Sit at home and let life pass me by OR
2) Experience all that life has to offer by being a part of your surroundings!
What do you do and what are your upcoming projects?
I am a speaker. I am developing a training program around How to Personally Brand Yourself on Social Media & a International Documentary called: The Accessible Planet: Are We There Yet? – CINEWS
