Mentally unstable man kills rickshaw puller after ‘dream’

New Delhi, June 9 (IANS) A mentally unstable man from Uttarakhand killed a sleeping rickshaw puller by smashing his face with a wooden club early on Thursday morning in east Delhi. The man told police he was directed in his dream to do so and that he has killed two other people in similar fashion.

Vinod, 25, known by his first name, attacked the rickshaw puller in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri locality with a wooden club while the latter was sleeping by the roadside. The victim is yet to be identified as the attacker smashed his face badly.

The assailant was caught by locals after a chase and handed over to a police team nearby.

Vinod confessed to police that he killed the rickshaw puller after a message in his dream that said “kill someone otherwise face bad luck”, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal told IANS.

“Vinod has also confessed to having committed two more murders following similar messages in his dream. He claimed to having killed one person in Unnao (Uttar Pradesh) on May 17 and another in Madhu Vihar (east Delhi) earlier this year,” the DCP said.

“We are yet to verify the information about the killings,” the officer said.

The officer said Vinod, a resident of Uttarakhand, had come to Delhi eight-nine months ago and seemed to be mentally unstable.
