Sarbjit as we all know is a story of courage and perseverance. Dalbir Kaur, Sarbjit’s sister who fought for 23 years to get her brother out of a Pakistan prison, where he was charged with the allegations of an Indian spy.
The entire human ‘battle’ played out for over two decades and during this period, the real Dalbir Kaur ran from pillar to post trying to get attention to prove her brother’s innocence. One of the people Dalbir met early in her struggle to free her brother was Shamsher Singh, the older brother of Mika Singh. Shamsher, who believed in Sarbjit’s innocence, even joined a group of people, who were canvassing at Jantar Mantar.
Mika, who had witnessed all this and was convinced that Dalbir had picked the right cause, recently presented the brave lady with a khanda (the military emblem of the Sikhs) on a reality show. He also promised her that when Poonam, Sarbjit’s younger daughter, decides to marry, he will bear all the shaadi expenses. Mika’s act not only moved the real Dalbir, it also left Randeep Hooda, who plays Sarbjit Singh on screen and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who plays Dalbir Kaur, to tears. “CINEWS”
